Recreus PLA-LW (Light-Weight) is a PLA filament that can be used to create light and strong models with low density.

Thanks to its active foam technology, the extruder throughput is reduced by 50% - 60% per piece with the same line thickness, because of this the weight of the model is reduced. The foam effect also creates a more uniform finish with fluid layer transitions.

Due to the reduced material flow, two to three times as much can be printed as with conventional PLA.

Application - Model Airplanes

Since the material foams at high temperatures, the overall weight of the model is reduced and so is the wing load, which improves flight characteristics. Thanks to its lower weight, the material is also suitable for cosplay applications.

Because of the foaming effect, the filament can leave some stringing but these can be easily removed and sanded down.
